What's to get excited about!

Continuing our Dutch summer offerings, our second and final week here, sees us digging deep into the more cultural side of Holland with our ‘Culture of Limburg’ holiday. Limburg is located in the southernmost of the twelve Dutch provinces, close to the German border and approximately 45 miles from Eindhoven. It boasts large rolling hills, grand castles, caves and vibrant markets and has a little of something for everyone.

Our week will start with a flight from London to Dusseldorf and then it’s a short minibus ride to our accommodation. We’ve secured the largest wing at the quite wonderful Compass Complex where we shall stay for the duration of our holiday (see below for full description).

As for activities, we believe we’ve come up with a fine itinerary that will see us really explore the area and take in some wonderful sights. In Limburg itself, there is the Limburg Museum in the city of Venlo, where we’ll discover classic collection pieces and contemporary art, celebrating the region the locals are so very proud of. Likewise, we will be taking a visit to Hoensbroek Castle, a large, well-preserved castle which dates back to 1250.

Moving slightly further afield, we shall explore a little of Maastricht, famous for being the location of the European Union treaty signing in 1992. This aside, it is steeped in history and tradition and we shall be treated to a guided walking tour of the city. Another highlight will be when we venture to the Maze At Three County Border. This excellent attraction is located (as the name suggests), at the point where Holland, Germany and Belgium meet and the maze for us to navigate around looks like great fun! Finally, there will be a visit to the Toverland Amusement Park in Sevenum. With its beautiful grounds and an array of outdoor and indoor activities on offer, it looks an absolutely superb place to spend a day!

This will be the second of two back-to-back weeks in Limburg and our chosen premises allows for larger groups than we are normally able to offer. We’re absolutely thrilled to have found this wonderful new location and can’t wait to get out and explore some of the more cultural attractions that Holland has to offer.

Where you'll be staying...

We’ll be staying at the wonderful Compass Complex where we will be taking over their largest wing for the full seven days. Complete with multiple bedrooms (each with their own private bathroom), large kitchen/dining area as well as its impressive grounds for us to relax in, it makes for an ideal location for our holiday.

Food, glorious food!

Our private accommodation for the week comes with a fully functional large kitchen and dining area, so we’ll be taking our very own Go Beyond chef with us on this one. Hearty breakfasts in the morning will fuel us up for the day ahead, and packed lunches organised for when we’re out and about. Hot evening meals shall await us on our return complete with delicious deserts.

Travel

We will meet at a London airport and you will be supported on our return flights to Dusseldorf. Minibuses shall provide our mode of transportation for most, if not all, of our daily activities as well as for pick up and airport drop offs.

Itineray

Day 1 – Flight to Dusseldorf, minibus to accommodation and settle in

Day 2 – Visit the cultural-historical museum of Limburg.

Day 3 – Maastricht City walking tour.

Day 4 – Visit one of the biggest castles in the Netherlands, Hoensbroek Castle.

Day 5 – Rest Day – A day with no fixed schedule, allowing us to rest a little and decide between us how we’d like to spend the day.

Day 6 – Spend time at a maze that stradles three countries, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

Day 7 – Toverland – The exciting adventure theme park.

Day 8 – Travel back to the UK

Your holiday will include the following:

• 7 night accommodation and all meals provided
• All entrance fees to all activities and sites.
