What's to get excited about!

You think of France and what springs to mind? We believe most people would agree that it’s probably its iconic landmarks, its chateaux and twisting rivers, and of course its delicious food.

So, new for 2026, we’re offering a unique food-themed experience where we’ll get to learn about, shop for, prepare and of course taste, the wonderful cuisine this country and the region of Brittany has to offer. As with all our Brittany holidays, we’ll be based in the small, beautiful central village of Mellionnec, where we’ll be staying in a large gite named A La Belle Etoile (Under the Stars).

Just a few kilometres down the road from our accommodation is the lovely town of Rostrenen, and it’s here where we’ll be exploring the town’s food markets and buying the content for our picnic lunches. There’s also a fabulous guided food tour arranged, where we’ll learn all about the local foods and trying many of them en route. We’ll also be visiting the ‘Grain de Sail’ chocolate factory . Here, we’ll each be making our very own chocolate bar for us to enjoy afterwards! Another food synonymous with France are crêpes. We willl be taught the art of producing crêpes and then making our own individual ones and seeing who’s is the tastiest at the end of the session. Delicious!

Finally, we’ll be preparing a traditional Breton meal, guided every step of the way by a chef from the Brittany area. From start to finish we’ll be talked through the entire recipe; learning about the ingredients, taking expert tips on creating delicious tastes and flavours and finally cooking and enjoying the fruits of our labour as we sit down and eat together. Chef-tastic !

Where you'll be staying...

In the heart of Brittany is the village of Mellionnec. In the centre of this village is an auberge. This is where we will be based, in the auberge À la belle étoile, a recently renovated accommodation. It has been designed to accommodate all types of people, including summer groups like ours.

Food, glorious food!

All of our food will be lovingly prepared and cooked by our wonderful chef, Helen.

What you'll experience...

We will meet at a London airport and you will be supported on the flight to Rennes Airport in France. Our mini-buses will take you on the 1 hour 45-minute drive to the auberge.

Ininerary

Day 1 – Travel from London to Brittany, travel to our accommodation via mini bus, settle in.

Day 2 – Visit Rostrenen Market, buy food for our picnic.

Day 3 – Brittany Food Tour.

Day 4 – Visit Grain de Sail chocolate factory

Day 5 – Rest Day.

Day 6 – Learn how to prepare a traditional Breton meal.

Day 7 – Make and eat Breton Crepes

Day 8 – Drive back to Rennes Airport for flight back to London.
