The Camargue is wild, windswept and remote, which is why it’s a wildlife haven and of huge environmental and cultural interest. Situated in the south of France, this famous delta that carries France’s biggest river, the Rhone, out into the Mediterranean Sea, is a mecca for wildlife lovers the world over. Join us for Go Beyond’s Wildlife in The Camargue.
The Camargue is known for having it’s own breed of horse, the beautiful Carmargue white horse, still used in local cattle farming, by the wild, gypsy-styled guardians or cowboys.
We will spend 7 nights in a typical, Mediterranean villa in the heart of the Camargue, and experience the national park of Camargue and its sublime beauty, by foot, by boat and by horse.
We will also be joined by Go Beyond Team regular, Chris Sperring M.B.E., wildlife guide, BBC wildlife broadcaster, active campaigner for local wildlife and author, to help us understand the landscapes and all that lives in it. If you like photography then this can be an ideal holiday for you to expand your portfolio, the wild animals, the wild settings, together with the clear light add up to perfect ingredients for memorable photographs. Wildlife and nature lovers, photographers, culture vultures or people who love France will all adore this trip.
We will be staying for seven nights in a ten bedroom villa in the heart of the Camargue. Located next to the one of the biggest lagoons of the Camargue, the Vaccaires, part of the natural reserve.
Having this natural wonder on our doorstep will gives us the chance to enjoy the serenity of a prebreakfast walk, experience nature as the sun is rising.
We will be fully catered for by our very own Go Beyond Chef.
We will meet at a London airport and you will be supported on the flight to Marseille Airport in Provence.
Our mini-buses will take you on the 1 hour 30 minute drive to our accommodation in the Camargue.
We will spend every day exploring different parts of the Camargue, but there will also be chance to relax at the villa in the mornings and evenings, with games and engaging conversation.
We will enjoy tasty breakfasts, healthy picnics for lunch and hearty dinners in the evenings, a balanced menu catering to your dietary requirements.
